With this in mind, we do kindly ask that before you enrol, you are fully committed to gifting yourself this time and showing up to support yourself.
Absolutely. We’ll cover enough of this research and its applications so that you have just what you need.
Not at all. We’ll support you in the discovery of your personal application, and coach you in creating an impact project at the end of the course.
Onsite sessions are scheduled to meet full days (9-5 with an hour for lunch) on Thursdays and half days (9-12:30 on Fridays) monthly:
You are also expected to be available some Wednesday eves from 7-8:30 pm for coaching calls.
Please make sure these dates work for your calendar before applying!
Our class will meet in a meeting room at Palmdale Oasis Park Recreation Center 3850 East Avenue S, Palmdale.
You’ll be provided with 30-45 minutes of video content, or podcasts, and some reading in advance of the session. Then, we’ll jump on Zoom Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 pm PST and review the content outlined for that lesson and participate in activities that bring it alive.
1. A computer (laptop or desktop), tablet, or smartphone.
2. A reliable internet connection.
3. A web browser (like Firefox, Safari, or Chrome).
We’ll send you clear instructions for joining the workshops in our reminder emails.
You are invited to apply for a full or partial scholarship from the City of Palmdale. Scholarships are awarded based on need and clarity on where and how you can have impact a part of our Antelope Valley community where you have influence. This could be your workplace, school, or neighborhood. More partial scholarships are awarded than full ones in an attempt to have shared accountability between individual participants, their employers or other sponsoring agencies, and the City.
Participants are expected to complete pre-work, attend the live training classes and virtual coaching sessions, complete reflection prompts and a PERMAH Quiz on the learning portal, and participate in the pay-it-forward challenges and impact project at the end of the class. The impact project asks you to apply something you learned in the program by teaching it to a group of your choosing.
Not to worry – we have your back. Everything is video recorded, so you can catch up as you need. If you have burning questions, you can submit them on the special class membership site, to which you’ll have an all-access pass, or come to a coaching call at any time.
The cohort will have up to 50 participants. Don’t worry – the group will be the perfect size so everyone’s questions can be heard and answered, and so that you get as much value as possible.
A lot! Your teacher’s priority is your learning and development, and they will work generously to help you as you need or want coaching.
Bring together Antelope Valley citizens — people leaders from all sectors, help them learn applied positive psychology, the science of wellbeing, and apply it to their lives personally, relationally, and back to their workplace or community group where they have influence. Empower regional collaborations implementing best principles and positive change practices students will learn in class. Help individuals, families, teams, organizations, and our entire community learn, grow and thrive – starting with ourselves first.
