My name is Michelle McQuaid, and these days I’m a best-selling author, workplace wellbeing teacher and playful change activator.
Ten years ago, I started bringing Positive Psychology into traditionally “skeptical” workplaces, like government agencies, big banks, and technology firms – even the auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers where I was the global brand manager!
While it wasn’t always smooth sailing, I kept learning and adding new positive psychology tools to my toolbox.
Now my specialty is helping people find the confidence, energy and happiness to consistently thrive at work, and I’ve helped thousands of people around the world to improve their wellbeing, especially when it comes to their work.
I’m an honorary fellow at Melbourne University’s Graduate School of Education, and my work has been featured in Forbes, the Harvard Business Review, the Wall Street Journal, Boss Magazine, The Age, and many more.
I’m also completing my PhD in Appreciative Inquiry under the supervision of Professor David Cooperrider.
My biggest hope is that more people around the world discover the science of positive psychology, and have the tools they need to use the research and theory in their day-to-day lives.
I know many of you are inspired to improve your own wellbeing and help others do the same – and that’s why I’m starting a brand new program to give you the practical tools you need to do just that.

“Without ever making me feel stupid, Michelle’s training challenged my beliefs, showed me what I was capable of and helped me to make significant changes in my life. As a result, I got the promotion I longed for, lost weight and became a better colleague, wife and step-mother. I’m so happy Michelle came into my life.”
"I’d completed the strengths surveys and wasn’t sure what to do with the results. It was when I joined Michelle’s program that I learned how to practically use my strengths to improve my work. The lessons and tools were really helpful, but it was the coaching calls with Michelle that made all the difference. I learned how to tailor my strengths to my world. Now, especially when I’ve got something I don’t want to do, I’ll look for ways to use my strengths and it makes all the difference.”
“It was a very pivotal moment in my career. I was plagued with the constant belief that I wasn’t good enough. But instead of trying to fix what was broken (e.g. my weaknesses), I learned to put my time, my energy and my efforts into things that I’m actually good at. Since that time, I have changed what I’m doing at my work so my role is more in line with strengths. I’m so much happier. I’m more optimistic. And I have a very different level of confidence than before.”
Save yourself time, money, and energy by testing out new ideas, learning best practices, asking questions, talking through setbacks, and celebrating successes in this private online community. You can also pick Michelle’s brain for tips, resources, or suggestions.
Complete with video, audio, transcript, slides and playbook.
“What I have always liked the most about Michelle – she is who she says she is, and she tries to practice what she preaches. Since working with her I’ve learnt a huge amount about my strengths, what I’m passionate about, what the world has to look like for me to be in a good place, and how to go about building a senior leadership career actually getting these things. I’d recommend working with Michelle to anyone looking to find a way to make professional career work as part of a life, and hold onto some of your sanity in the process!”
“Without diluting the science, Michelle made it easy who our whole team – sales, marketing and operations – to start seeing what their strengths are and how they can be applied at work. Since her session we’ve all started using the same language for our strengths and pointing out when we see others in the team using them. She gave us fresh motivation and I believe that if we can embed this into our company our staff retention rate will continue to climb.”
“It sounds dramatic to say Michelle’s sessions on strengths have changed my life, but they really have. After first reading about Michelle, I feared her scientific approach would be way over my head, but she has a way of making it so simple, logical, warm and engaging that after experiencing her work for myself, I knew I had to make it available for my whole team. Since Michelle’s training there has even been a tangible uplift in performance over the last month.”
